Bilfinger GVA appointed for sale of major Colburn residential development
Bilfinger GVA, the commercial property consultancy, has been appointed to find a buyer for a substantial residential development site in one of North Yorkshireâs fastest growing housing markets.
A 14 acre former industrial property, on Catterick Road, Colburn, North Yorkshire, has been cleared, remediated and benefits from planning permission for 225 new homes.
Colburndale Phase Two is opposite Phase One, which is being delivered by Taylor Wimpey.
âWoodside Chaseâ features 272 houses, over half of which are now sold. The third phase of the wider development site has been earmarked for a small residential close care development and potentially further retail, residential and community uses.
The site is situated in a prominent position in Colburn, backing on to open fields. It is located two miles from the centre of Catterick Garrison - Europeâs largest garrison town - and four miles from the market town of Richmond.
Dai Powell, director in the planning, development and regeneration team at Bilfinger GVA in Leeds, said the site is well-prepared for residential development to meet growing demand for housing in the area, a result of the continued focus for growth placed on Catterick Garrison by the Ministry Of Defence.
Dai Powell said: âThanks to arrangements put in place by the Ministry of Defence, military personnel are encouraged to spend far more of their careers in one broad location and as such, those in Catterick Garrison or posted there are increasingly likely to put down roots and purchase homes locally.
âThe sale of Colburndale Phase Two provides a great opportunity to acquire a substantial residential development site in one of the regionâs fastest-growing areas and we are hoping to secure a multi-million pound receipt.“
