Name change for fast-growing developer Mulbury

Mulbury Homes – the Cheshire-headquartered specialist housing developer – today announces it will be renamed simply as Mulbury to better reflect the diversity of its operations in the UK housing sector.

Alongside the name change, the fast-growing business has created a number of new sub-brands to help represent its different divisions, including the launch of a new land and planning service.

Greg Mulligan, a director of Mulbury, explains: “Over the last five years the business has grown rapidly. Developing affordable housing and care schemes for registered housing providers is our core market and will remain so, but we’re also growing in other related sectors.

“We’re developing homes for open market sale, as well as looking at alternative housing models such as the private rented sector and other investor-backed city centre schemes. We wanted to create unique identities for these different parts of the business and so we felt the name Mulbury would better reflect the company as a whole. It’s a small but important change.”

The Mulbury Homes name has been retained for the company’s affordable housing division. Its other divisions are:

Mulbury Care – Focused on developing care and retirement living schemes for older people

Mulbury Living – Developing high-quality homes for private sale

Mulbury City – Working with investors to deliver private rented sector (PRS) and high-density city living schemes

Mulbury Land – A joint venture with PWA Planning, working with landowners to achieve planning permission for sites which can deliver residential and mixed commercial uses.

In just five years, Mulbury, based in Lymm, has grown to become a £30m turnover business. It recently announced plans for a £30m PRS scheme in Port Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, a £25m housing and retail scheme on the former Walton Hospital site in Liverpool, and a £17m older people’s village for the former Hilton Park stadium in Leigh.

Greg added: “These are exciting times for the business with lots of new development in the pipeline. We want to ensure our identity keeps pace with this change and speaks to all our customers and partners. Our name is changing slightly, but our reputation for agile decision-making and a high-quality product delivered by excellent people will remain the same.”
