Vocare acquires larger Newcastle premises to facilitate growth

A raft of new, UK-wide contract wins has led to urgent healthcare provider Vocare acquire larger Newcastle premises to facilitate its expansion plans.

Procuring Sterling House, a 20,114 sq ft office building at Balliol Business Park, the new premises will be home to over a hundred employees working in clinical, finance, I.T and administration roles. Moreover, Vocare’s NHS 111 clinicians servicing the region will also be based at the new HQ.

The move sees Vocare return to its roots, having previously operated from Sterling House up until 2005.

The group has recently undertaken new services across the UK and will provide urgent care, GP out-of-hours and NHS 111 services to over 1.3 million patients in York, Scarborough and Ryedale, Somerset and East Leicestershire and Rutland.

Vocare, which began operating in 1996 as Northern Doctors Urgent Care (NDUC), has seen turnover rise to £52m, a 52 per cent increase on last year’s figures and is on course to reach £75m by 2017.

Carl Moffett, finance director of the Vocare Group, added: “The business is growing very rapidly having been appointed to provide services throughout the country, so we believe that this is the right time for us to move into new premises. Sterling House will be the group’s headquarters and due to its size, it will be able to accommodate our continued growth.”

Chris Pearson, partner, Gavin Black & Partners, advised Vocare on the acquisition and said: “Sterling House is double the size of Vocare’s existing headquarters at Gosforth Business Park. This was a superb opportunity to acquire a building of this size in this location with the benefit of vacant possession.”
