New homes plan revealed for sought-after Glasgow site

A leading housebuilder has revealed plans for a major new housing development in a sought-after area of Glasgow.

Persimmon Homes West Scotland wants to build 512 new homes on the 49 acre site in Cowglen.

Persimmon has lodged plans for the site with Glasgow City Council and if it secures permission plans to invest £75 million, creating up to 1200 jobs.

The development will feature a mix of one and two bedroom apartments and two, three, four and five-bedroom homes on the brownfield site in Barrhead Road, around four miles from the city centre.

Glasgow City Council recently unveiled plans to deliver 25,000 new homes by 2025 as the city’s growing population demands more places to live.

Speaking of the plans, Doug Law, managing director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said: “We are committed to building high quality homes in sought after locations and our investment in Glasgow forms an integral part of our expansion programme to bring further new homes to the region to meet the growing demand.

“Our plans include homes to suit a range of buyers, from those looking to get on the property ladder to families seeking more space as they grow.

“The area has terrific motorway links and is close to local shops and amenities, so offers something for everybody.”

The overall regeneration of the area, which includes the former National Savings and Investments buildings, is expected to take 10 years.

Potential buyers are invited to register their interest in the homes via the Persimmon Homes website – www.persimmonhomes.com
