Beta Group honours longest-serving employee
The longest-serving employee at Beta Group has been honoured by her bosses after clocking up 25 years with the maintenance and manufacturing firm.
Julie Walton, aged 43, joined Beta Group in September 1990 as an office junior.
She has worked her way through the ranks at the Bacup-based company and is now operations manager, with special responsibility for the firm’s air filters division.
To mark the milestone, Beta Group directors Martin and Angela Lewis threw a reception so Julie could celebrate with her colleagues, who presented gifts.
The company, which employs 50 staff at its Bacup headquarters, also commissioned a celebration cake in the shape of the number 25 depicting Julie holding two air filters.
Martin said: “In the early days, Julie helped with all aspects of running a small company, looking after the administration, credit control and sales order processing. This enabled me to get out and develop the business.
“We are now a much larger entity, and Julie is a vital part of our management team. Her drive and determination to get things done are immensely important to the company.
“Julie has many great qualities – she doesn’t like to let anyone down, and she cares very much for her colleagues. Indeed, she has helped to nurture many others along their career paths at Beta Group.
“We are delighted to recognise her loyalty and dedication, and are looking forward to seeing her continue to play a key role in the future.”
Julie, who is married with a teenage daughter and lives in Bacup, said: “I love the business and the people. It’s a fantastic place to work and I’m really grateful to Martin and all of my colleagues for the opportunities I have had.
“I’m very much looking forward to my next chapter at Beta Group.”
