New £6m Trafford care home to create 100 jobs

Kingsley Healthcare, the dementia care company, has revealed plans to create jobs in Greater Manchester with a new £6m development.

Work on the firm’s 62-bed dementia care home in Partington, Trafford, is now underway. Due for completion in June 2016, Kinglsey Healthcare expects the new facility to create up to 100 jobs in the area.

The project forms part of a five-year £230m expansion strategy, through which the Suffolk-headquartered care provider hopes to improve its national brand.

The new Partington home will be split into four wings and comprise a cinema, library, dementia-friendly cafe and sun room. All of the rooms will be built for a single occupant and include an en suite bathroom.

The manager of Kingsley’s operations in the North West, Debbie Cank, said: “Our intention is to build a home that will be at the heart of the local community.

“A lot of good work has been done over the past couple of years in lifting the area and providing new youth activities; we will be playing our part by sponsoring some of these.”

She added: “To open in June 2016 we will be taking staff on from April next year and training them at our nearby Timperley Care Home,” she said.

According to Debbie, positions available at the new centre would include managers, nurses, care staff and support workers, as well as activity co-ordinators and chefs.

Founded 16 years ago in Lowestoft, Suffolk, as the operator of a single care home, Kingsley has since grown to operate 24 homes and employ around 1,200 members of staff.

The company’s CEO, Daya Thayan, believes the firm will expand rapidly through its new-build programme, in which it intends to create three or four new homes annually over the next six years.

He said: “When considering our strategy we asked ourselves how we could take our person-centred care into new areas where we are not currently represented.

“So to fund our new-build programme we have partnered with a city institution on a joint venture, with Kingsley Healthcare being the major shareholder.”

He has predicted that the company’s staffing levels will rise to 3,500 in the next four to five years.
