North Yorkshire mother and daughter duo launch health food business

A mother and daughter team has launched a new business which supplies bespoke nutritional food and recipes on-line in North Yorkshire.

The Richmond-based Bee Free Box was spearheaded by renowned clinical nutritionist Angela Beecroft and her daughter, Sarah Russell.

Angela established Bee Free Box, which specialises in wheat, dairy, yeast and gluten-free products, to promote improved health, increased energy and vitality, emotional stability and weight loss.

Other boxes include a children’s box, snack boxes and even a dog box, each promoting a healthy diet for all the family.

Angela runs her own private clinics from Richmond, Centaurus Private Health Care in Stockton and London. She has worked for a leading food intolerance company and was formerly on the Advisory Board of Allergy UK.

She explained: “Our exciting new business Bee Free Box is a logical extension of the work I have been doing for the last two decades. I specialise in gut health and have been working with clients suffering from a range of symptoms caused by a disrupted microbiome (the 3-4 pounds of bacteria which live in your gut).

“We are becoming more aware of just how important the balance of bacteria in your gut is to good health. An imbalance of this family of bacteria, we understand, may be the underlying cause of many health issues which can lead to a food sensitivity.

“Removing the suspect foods for a period of time and repopulating the beneficial bacteria may restore gut health, then the foods may be reintroduced. No one food group should be removed permanently unless advised so by your doctor. Recent research is suggesting that this family of bacteria has a profound influence on physical and mental health.

Angela added: “It has become increasingly obvious to me that while many of my clients are very keen to follow a ‘free from’ diet to help them improve their health, lose weight and increase their energy and vitality, they struggle to find the food they need on the high street.

“Together with my daughter, Sarah, who is a Registered Veterinary Nurse and is currently studying towards a MSc in Nutritional Therapy, we decided to solve this problem by finding the best products on the ‘free from’ market, both in terms of ingredients and taste. In doing this, we remove the stress from following a ‘free from’ diet.”

Bee Free Box is free from many of the foods that may cause health issues for a large percentage of the population, notably, dairy, wheat, gluten, yeast and refined sugar.

Bee Free Box supplies boxes of ingredients, recipes and a weekly food plan for the intake of vegetables, fruit, lean protein, healthy fats and minimal high quality nutritious non-perishable produce.

There is a different selection of food and recipes each week, and customers can buy a one-off box or subscribe for weekly, fortnightly, or monthly deliveries.

Sarah also commented: “Here at Bee Free Box we love our food, we are always experimenting with new products and designing our delicious recipes. If you join our Bee Free journey, you will receive a different selection of recipes relating to the box products every week.”

Additional nutritional support is also available from Angela, who added: “Optimum health is about feeling well, bursting with energy and vitality, feeling happy, being comfortable with your weight and maintaining serenity amid the many demands of life in the 21st century.

“The drivers of many chronic health conditions are lifestyle choices, mainly our choices at meal times. Each forkful of food influences your biochemistry by either promoting inflammation or reducing it. Science is now demonstrating that the main influences of ill health are inflammation and toxicity, so taking care of the microbiome is a step towards good health and wellness.”
