Nottingham Estate Agency To Save Homeowners Thousands

A British entrepreneur has launched a unique concept in online estate agency that will revolutionalise the way that people can sell their houses by removing hefty estate agent fees.

Nottingham based Mouse House Estate Agents has launched a brand new version of its website, which will give the vendor the tools and guidance needed to sell their house by themselves online.

UK estate agents charge anywhere between 1.5-4 per cent of the property’s price on top of an additional 20 per cent for VAT. That’s not forgetting solicitor’s conveyancing fees, which average around £1000; this means that a house worth £350,000 could see the vendor lose £17,800 once their house has been sold.

Mouse House offers its services on a low cost, fixed fee basis and the online estate agency is the brainchild of Mark Whitehead, 42, from Attenborough in Nottingham, it allows vendors to upload their own property photos and advertise their house on the website.

Mr Whitehead said: “People still use the high street estate agent because they believe that they have no other option.

“We want to allow people to sell their own homes and to give them the tools to do it, whilst saving them thousands. There is no need for homeowners to be spending so much money on agent fees when they can come to us and save thousands. Our packages start from as little at £295 inc VAT.”

After its launch in January 2014, this innovative estate agent model has already sold over 1500 houses nationwide and proved that the concept works for any sized home as it has already sold houses ranging from a small one-bedroom property right up to a £1m property in Berkshire.

Mr Whitehead has been running several successful businesses since he was 17 and sold his sports retail business in 2009 because he moved to Australia to pursuit other business interests. He has also recently attracted a multi-million pound investment from US investor, John Bailye.

Mr Whitehead added: “Something we found was the property market lacks transparency and we wanted to fix that. With our tools, any homeowner can sell their house for less and with confidence, its time to change an industry that has been so stuck in the same way of doing things for too long.”
