Intermarketing Agency’s ‘Soap Fest’ raises thousands for charity
Intermarketing Agency’s ‘Soap Fest’ has been a great success, raising £6,512 for Clifford AFC/ sports development fund and Reverse Rett.
The two day event, held at Windmill Hill in Bramham, near Wetherby, on September 12th/13th, featured a ‘Soap Box Derby’ on the Saturday and a ’Slip ‘n’ Slide’, giant water slide, on Sunday.
Despite the heavy rain on Saturday, hundreds turned out to see a variety of impressive, creative and speedy soap boxes race down Windmill Hill for the fourth year running, some reaching up to 40 mph! £2504 was raised for Clifford AFC, with funds going towards their sports development fund.
The ’Slip ‘n’ Slide’ event made its debut on Windmill Hill on Sunday 13th. Several hundred people attended, many to ride the 100m water slide and support the worthy cause, Reverse Rett, which aims to raise awareness of Rett Syndrome. Staff from Intermarketing Agency volunteered to organise the day with local band The Calls, the Back to The 80’s show, BBQ, bar, cake stall, face painting and bouncy castles. A great family day out, the Slip ‘n’ Slide event raised £4011.69 for Reverse Rett.
Andy Stevenson, Fundraising Manager at Reverse Rett, said:
“’We are delighted that Intermarketing Agency chose to support Reverse Rett by holding the ’Slip ‘n’ Slide’ event. The money that was raised will go towards ongoing research projects into finding a cure for Rett Syndrome. Rett has already been reversed in the lab and with support such as this we are confident that one day soon it will also be reversed in our children. Thank you to everybody at Intermarketing Agency for all the hard work they put into making the day a success and everybody that turned up and got wet on a glorious day in West Yorkshire”
Jamie Allan, Group Managing Partner, Intermarketing Agency, said:
“Absolutely delighted that so many people came along to Saturday’s Soap Box Derby, but even more so that Sunday, which was a new venture for us, was such a great success and that we raised so much money for Reverse Rett. Fantastic too that we have helped the charity raise more awareness of the good work they do. I have been amazed for the past three years by the relentless fundraising of my old school friend, Jill Spence. She has done so many challenges for Reverse Rett inspired by her daughter, Sophie that I decided I’d like to help raise money to help give Sophie the chance of a brighter future. As a company, we choose two charities a year to support and this year Reverse Rett are one of those.
We are already committed to running the ‘Slip and Slide’ event again next year and hopeful for an even bigger turnout. Anyone who would like to get involved is very welcome to contact me.“
