Aylesbury charity awarded £1,000 by leading housebuilder
A leading housebuilder has provided a cash boost to a charity that supports visually impaired individuals in Buckinghamshire.
Bucks Vision was selected as one of Persimmon Homes North London’s Community Champions, a scheme that awards £1,000 to further the charity’s work within the community. The project sees a pot of £24,000 donated to local groups and charities.
Bucks Vision provides emotional and practical support for the blind and visually impaired, from providing in-hospital support when someone is first diagnosed to gadgets and support for everyday living.
The charity will spend Persimmon Homes North London’s funding on a range of exciting new activities for their members, which will allow blind and partially sighted individuals to try something new in their community.
Hannah Duggan, area fundraising manager at Bucks Vision, said: “We would like to say a massive thank you on behalf of all our members to Persimmon Homes North London’s Community Champions.
“The money donated will make a real difference to local people living with sight loss and will be used to help run support courses and groups, helping those living in Buckinghamshire with sight loss to be as independent as possible and enjoy life.”
The Community Champions funding will allow Bucks Vision to put on more exciting activities, letting blind and partially sighted individuals to try something new such as paintballing, dancing and horse riding.
Greg Kaye, head of sales at Persimmon Homes North London, said: “We are delighted that Bucks Vision are our latest Community Champions, as they do fantastic work within our community. We hope that our funding will give some fantastic experiences to partially sighted and blind people in the Aylesbury area.
“Persimmon Homes North London has had a fantastic response to its Community Champions scheme and it is always a tricky task to pick our winners each month.
“If applicants were unsuccessful last month, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next Community Champion.”
The housebuilder has a range of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes available on its Scholars Rise development located in the popular village of Stokenchurch. The sought-after location has fantastic links to London and Birmingham, as well as a range of amenities on its doorstep.
Community Champions is a year-long programme with £750,000 to be spread across the housebuilder’s 25 regions. Groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise funds themselves can apply for match funding of up to £1,000.
