1400-home Blackpool development set for green light

Plans for a £200m Lancashire development comprising 1,400 new homes, a health centre and school are set to be given the go-ahead.

According to a BBC report, the 225-acre Whyndyke Farm development has been earmarked for approval by the planning committee of Blackpool Council. If consent is given, work will start next year and take 10 to 15 years to complete.

For the developer consortium behind the project, getting the green light depends on whether or not the companies involved agree to contribute to the area’s affordable housing and secondary school capacity, as well as providing an additional bus service.

The application outlined plans for 70 five-bed homes, 280 four-bed houses, 350 two-bed builds and 700 three-bed properties on the site’s northern end.

Proposals also encompass two community centres, a new pub and space for retailers.
