Charity golf day raises funds for local hospice

Jennings Motor Group has been boosting funds for its nominated charity, Teesside Hospice, after holding a golfing event which has raised more than £2800.

A total of eight teams, consisting of representatives not only from www.jenningsmotorgroup.co.uk, but also from within the local business community, took to Teesside Golf Club for an afternoon of birdies, eagles, nearest to the pin and longest drive.

On arrival participants were treated to bacon and egg butties and afterwards enjoyed a two-course evening meal, in addition to taking part in an auction and raffle.

Scooping first place was the ‘Fleet Factors’ team who received a bottle of champagne, with Martyn Hepple from Jennings Motor Group winning the longest drive and Kevin Armstrong from AutoClenz winning nearest to the pin.

Nas Khan, managing director of Jennings Motor Group and founder of his own charity, The Emaan Foundation, said; “The golf day is one of many fundraising events we have held for Teesside Hospice, which is our nominated charity for 2015. We are delighted with the amount raised, which will contribute towards providing essential and palliative care to local people across the region.”

The motor dealer group pledged its support to Teesside Hospice, which was established in 1982, earlier in the year with a cheque for the sum of £5,000.

Although the charity is partly funded by the NHS, it needs to raise £5200 each and every day of the year via its own resources in order to provide specialist palliative care to people facing a life limiting illness in Teesside.

Josephine Galloway, Teesside Hospice Fundraiser, said; “I’d like to thank both Nas and his PA, Bev, for organising this fantastic golf event. It was a great turn out, despite the first event being cancelled due to poor weather conditions! Thanks to all of the local businesses involved for their kind and generous support and to all of the team at Jennings for their continued hard work to raise vital funds for the Hospice!”
