Royal Recognition for North East Specialist Agency

The Queen’s official representative, The Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, was in Washington today to present a local company with one of the country’s leading business awards.

Oil Consultant’s Ltd, a specialist recruitment agency for the oil and gas industry, was presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade in recognition of their achievements in exports over the past three years.

Helen Smith, CEO of Oil Consultants Ltd, said, “We are thrilled to have been awarded this accolade and to receive it in such a tremendous ceremony was absolutely fantastic. I am privileged to have been able to accept the award on behalf of the company, although our achievement is a real testimony to the excellent teamwork we have built up, and so having everyone participate in the presentation was great.”

The Lord-Lieutenant for Tyne and Wear, Mrs Susan Winfield, OBE, said, “It is a great pleasure to present Oil Consultants with the Queen’s Award and to present it to a company who has achieved this accolade for a third time is absolutely wonderful, and illustrates just how this remarkable Company is in making sustained growth within a very specialised field. It is a great credit to our region that such a specialist organisation is based in Tyne and Wear and that they have been recognised in such a positive manner with an Award which is recognised and respected throughout the world.”

The award is given to companies who have demonstrated substantial and sustained growth in export over the previous three years and Oil Consultants was one of only 141 companies within the UK to have been issued the award in 2015, and one of only three companies located in the North East of England. The company has now been privileged to achieve the award twice before, in 2010 and 2013, and Helen said, “Our business has gone from strength to strength as we have grown over the last few years. We have been able to gain greater depth with our services and build some really strong relationships with our clients around the world to offer them a truly global service underpinned by exceptional customer service. The oil industry has undergone substantial change in the last year and our business has adapted well to the changing market environment. To achieve the award for a third time in six years is a fantastic achievement and such a strong recognition of our company’s success.”
