Stockton energy specialist launches own business

Murho Energy Ltd, a newly formed company providing business improvement assistance through more efficient use of energy, has launched in Stockton.

Malcolm Potter, who spent six years at Tadea UK and had responsibility for its energy management portfolio, is the man beyond the company’s launch and believes the new venture is set to thrive.

Working with a network of specialist partners, Murho Energy provides energy management services to commercial and industrial clients, from simple energy audits through to Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and Display Energy Certificate (DEC) assessments and project management, with ongoing support and advice, for any subsequent works.

Having spent most of his working life in industry, mostly in the engineering sector, Malcolm worked for Tadea until recently, and was an employee elected Director at the firm.

Malcolm Potter, owner and director of Murho Energy, said: “Mounting energy costs can impact heavily on businesses and an audit of a company’s energy overheads is a very effective way of identifying any financial inefficiencies and can save businesses a lot of money over the course of time. Markets are volatile so any reduction in fixed overhead costs should be of interest.

“Climate change and energy usage are controversial but key issues, not just in today’s age but for the future so, whatever your perspective, it is just solid common sense to consider energy efficiency in the same terms as lean production, good maintenance and even health and safety. They are all part of good business management.”

As an ESOS lead assessor, Malcolm has the capabilities to perform ESOS and DEC assessments as well as, through Murho Energy’s network of partners, the installation of materials, equipment and Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) services. The firm can also help provide access to significant investment advice and finance.

Mr Potter added: “Although I have experience within energy management, setting up a new business and all the responsibility that comes with it, is a new challenge for me. However, I am confident that Murho Energy will thrive, especially with the backing of former colleagues and clientele, not to mention the support of a network of trusted and specialist partners.

“It will be hard work to build a business that provides a service that businesses will feel confident about working with, but I am excited by the prospect of Murho Energy and what the future holds for the company.”
