There are at least 1 to 10 bugs in a majority of mobile apps

Evans Data’s recent survey revealed that almost three quarter of mobile apps ship with at least 1 to 10 bugs. The market research, market intelligence, and strategic planning company conducted the survey on more than 500 mobile application developers who are actively engaged in mobile application development. They are Android developers, iPad/ iPhone Developers and Windows Phone developers.

According to this survey, one third of these developers said that they discover three to five bugs after the app is shipped. Five percent of the participant said that they didn’t find any bug after they shipped their apps. 20 percent of respondents in the survey said that the average is between eleven and fifty bugs.

These bugs are often fixed when apps are updated or improved with new features. But having bugs in software isn’t an unnatural event; however, having a handful of bugs is really an achievement because this denotes that the developers have expertise to finish up a project with keeping error as low as possible.

It came out in the survey that 32 percent of respondents (mobile app developers) release updates to fix bugs on a weekly basis or 22.7 percent of them on monthly basis. 80 percent of them confirmed that they push updates at least once in a month.

It is the 30th edition of the survey, and it commenced in 2001. They conduct it twice in a year. It aims to examining how developers build software for mobile devices and address several issues. Presently it covers mobile application designing, development and deployment for iOS, Android, Windows Phone. It also covers Internet of Things, wearables gadgets, and connected cars. Software-type wise, it covers business apps, gaming apps and their monetization aspects.

In the same survey, it also appeared that 70 percent of iPad / iPhone app developers generally do testing of their apps on up to five iOS device variants while 66.7 percent respondents engaged in Android app development do test of apps on two to four versions of Android.

The data shared here is resulted out of in depth survey conducted over global developer population. It covers a variety of subjects related to mobile application development, designing and implementation across various mobile platforms. In last survey conducted by Evens Data revealed that in spite growth in the tech economy globally, there has been noticeable decline in software start-ups over the last five years and so.
