Eric Spencer gets a bespoke online fit-out

In just two years’ time one of the oldest shops in the West Yorkshire town of Ilkley will be celebrating its 70th anniversary of trading. Although Eric Spencer opened its doors back in the 1940s, this long-established favourite of the Ilkley retail scene is moving with times thanks to a brand-new online shop.

Eric Spencer director Philip Atkinson said: “We are fortunate to have built up a strong and loyal customer base locally but have been eager to reach new customers from further afield as well. Shopping habits continually change and we need to change with them to continue offering the right products and service. Creating a new, efficient and cost effective website was a daunting prospect at first, but the team at Bluehoop Digital were great and worked closely with us.”

Eric Spencer’s new website has been created by Ilkley-based web design company, Bluehoop Digital Limited, and has been designed to showcase the store’s range of clothing and accessories whilst also offering friendly, traditional customer service.

Eric Spencer’s new website is already attracting customers from both the UK and overseas and Philip Atkinson is pleased to report that online sales have already increased: “Our new and fresher looking website now reflects the broad ranges of more fashionable men’s and ladies wear labels we carry and we’ve seen web sales and shop visits increase in the short time the new website has been active.”

Gareth Lisle, Director at Bluehoop Digital, said: “We’ve helped a number of small to medium-sized local businesses to attract new business through the internet and when Eric Spencer, one of the best known shops in Ilkley, approached us for a new online shop, we jumped at the chance.”
