North East logistics firm Interlink acquires Darlington franchise
Entrepreneurial brothers Steven and Glen Watson have acquired an additional franchise to operate Interlink in Darlington, with funding from Barclays.
After taking over the business from their parents, the pair have operated the Teesside Interlink business, based at Preston Farm industrial Estate, for over 18 years.
Acquiring the Gateshead franchise last year, the latest acquisition will see the business operating from North Yorkshire right up to Northumberland. The business has also invested in a new conveyor belt system for the depot to allow more capacity and faster loading and unloading times.
Partner Steve Watson, Interlink Franchisee, said: “The acquisition of the Darlington franchise is hugely exciting for us and now means we have fantastic coverage across North Yorkshire and the North East. Barclays have again assisted us with the purchase of the latest license.”
Their Interlink Express franchises now employ over 70 staff across the North East.
Michael Hendry, Business Banking Manager at Barclays put together the funding package for the deal and said: “We supported Steven and Glen for some time now and have a real understanding of their business.
“The new funding will enable them to support their customers right across the North East. It’s great to see a business investing for the future, creating employment and contributing to the local economy.”
