Six new signings for White Rose Shopping Centre

Leeds’ White Rose Shopping Centre, owned by Land Securities, has signed six new brands over the last three months – Tessuti, Yours, Pizza Express, Smiggle, EE and Schuh – all of which will be open in time for Christmas.

Tessuti, owned by JD Sports Fashion PLC, features top menswear and sports brands provided at their standalone stores Tessuti and Scotts. The retailer offers both premium and mid-market labels, such as Hugo Boss, Lacoste and Adidas at its 3,900 sq ft unit with a further 1,607 sq ft mezzanine.

Smiggle, the stationery store, will take 1,000 sq ft for its second store in Yorkshire, continuing its UK expansion by targeting the top shopping locations in Britain.

These latest signings were announced after the receipt of outline planning approval for the centre’s 65,000 sq ft leisure extension. White Rose has performed consistently well since opening in 1997, due to its ideal location, accessibility and high conversion rates.

Yours Clothing, the women’s fashion trader, has opened in 1,999 sq ft, plus 647 sq ft of mezzanine space, and Pizza Express will join the shopping centre’s recently remodelled food court, The Balcony, in a 2,285 sq ft unit.

The footwear retailer Schuh, and mobile network operator, EE, have both relocated to take larger units at the shopping centre following periods of growth in their existing stores. Schuh has signed for a 4,832 sq ft unit with a 1,614 sq ft mezzanine, whilst EE has introduced a new flagship concept in 1,665 sq ft , with a 707 sq ft (66 sq m) mezzanine.

Warren Thompson, group acquisitions manager at JD Sports Fashion PLC, said: “White Rose Shopping Centre’s dominance in the marketplace, attractive customer base and appetite for quality retail brands makes it an ideal location for our newest concept; Tessuti. We have been highly selective where we place the brand, but the sales and footfall figures that White Rose exhibits year-on-year made it a natural choice.”

Rob Jewell, portfolio director at Land Securities, added: “The addition of these in-demand retailers reinforces Land Securities’ commitment to supply our customers with a shopping and dining experience that is both well-rounded and exciting. Signing six tenants in just three months demonstrates White Rose’s exceptional reputation amongst retailers and leisure operators.”

JLL acted for Land Securities. Harper Dennis Hobbs acted for Smiggle and Schuh, Leeds-based Barker Proudlove for Pizza Express, and Savills for EE. Tessuti and Yours Clothing acted for themselves.

All mezzanine spaces are ancillary.
