Valued client is jewel in crown
A Wearside family business will be hopefully celebrating this week after being shortlisted for a prestigious award.
For the second year running, Valued Accountancy client Collinsons Jewellers, in Sunderland has been nominated in the City Centre Business of the Year category of the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Awards.
Last year, the long-established firm walked away with the title and are hoping to retain it again this year.
Established in 1981, the company was set up by Harry Collinson senior and his wife Sandra. They ran the business as a watch and clock repair firm from Blanford Street and has since expanded with a jewellery shop in Crowtree Road and a Pandora presence in The Bridges shopping centre.
The company employs over 20 staff and Harry and Sandra’s family have also helped to grow the business. Son Harry Collinson junior and daughter Rachael Collinson-Mather are also on the board as Directors and youngest daughter, Victoria Redmond joined in the summer.
Now in its eleventh year, the Portfolio Awards not only recognise the individual achievements of businesses on Wearside but also their role in promoting the area both regionally and nationally.
The company has been a client of Valued Accountancy since it was established five years ago and acknowledges the support and advice that they have received from Valued. Harry Collinson, said: “It’s a pleasure to work with Valued Accountancy, they know exactly which direction we want to drive the business.”
Valued Accountancy, who themselves won the Xero Overall Accounting Partner of the Year award this year provides accountancy, consultancy and business support and is one of four Practice Studio Partners in the UK that provides consultancy and training to other accounting practices by implementing software on behalf of Xero.
Stephen Paul, Owner and Managing Director of Valued Accountancy, said: “We work with hundreds of clients across the UK and abroad and I never get tired of hearing about their success and how they have grown their businesses.
“We have been working with Collinsons Jewellers from day one and it is so encouraging to hear that they have been acknowledged and shortlisted in the Portfolio Awards for the second year running. On behalf of everyone at Valued Accountancy, I would like to wish Harry and the team all the very best and keep our fingers crossed they are successful on the night.”
The Portfolio Awards ceremony will take place at the Stadium of Light this Thursday, October 15. There are 17 other award categories including Business of the Year (small, medium and large), Special Community Award and Best Training Provider.
