Shredding service for Milton Keynes residents

Milton Keynes residents are being encouraged to protect themselves in National Identity Fraud Prevention Week - by taking advantage of a shredding initiative organised by Crown Records Management and high street retail network, Mail Boxes Etc.

For one week only – between October 18-23 - customers can go into their local Mail Boxes Etc. store in 548-550 Elder House, Eldergate, MK9 1LR and destroy any unwanted paper for free, with an allowance of up to 10kg per person.

The scheme comes at a time when the number of identity thefts and data breaches is growing worldwide as information becomes a high-value commodity.

Ann Sellar, Business Development Manager at Crown Records Management, an expert in information management and avoiding data breaches, says: “Securely destroying your sensitive information, including bank statements and anything which contains your personal details, will help prevent against identity theft and data breaches.

“People should remember their documents are valuable. Criminals will use any information they can get their hands on – to clone banks accounts, open up a fraudulent account or sell data on. Sometimes just having your name and address could be enough.

“Our advice is don’t just put sensitive information in the recycling bins and think tearing it up is enough. Use a secure shredding service which provides you with the comfort and peace of mind your information has been destroyed. It’s better to be safe than sorry.”

James Simmons, Marketing Manager at Mail Boxes Etc., says: “Our partnership with Crown Records Management allows us to offer both local businesses and personal customers a convenient location to drop off sensitive documents and hard drives for secure destruction all year round. We are proud to support National Identity Fraud Prevention Week to raise awareness of the issue of identity theft, and hope to help our customers keep their private data out of the hands of criminals.”

This initiative is being offered in 35 of Mail Boxes Etc.’s network of more than 150 stores across the UK. The partnership means that participating Mail Boxes Etc. stores will offer a shredding service to the local community in addition to worldwide parcel delivery, courier or postal services, print and copy, mailbox rental, OneDrop ‘click & collect’ and virtual office packages.
