North Yorkshire traditional pubs snapped up in £5m acquisition deal

The Coaching Inn Group has acquired two North Yorkshire-based inns, The Golden Fleece and The Feathers, from Homfray Hotels Ltd, in a deal worth more than £5m.

The two venues have been part of Homfray Hotels’ portfolio for a number of years, along with The Crown at Hutton-Le-Hole and The Hornblower at Ripon, which remain under the family run Homfray brand.

Richard Murray Wells, managing director of Homfray Hotels, said: “Both The Golden Fleece and The Feathers are well loved and extremely popular traditional inns in wonderful locations close to the North Yorkshire Moors.

“The Coaching Inn Group already has a wonderful collection of old historic coaching inns across the country. It has developed a reputation for revitalising and breathing new life into unique properties like The Feathers and The Golden Fleece, so I’m particularly delighted that the Group will be investing in these inns whilst retaining their charm and character.”

Andrew Jackson Solicitors, led by property partner Adrian West, together with corporate department colleague, associate Jody Horth led the sale of both properties.

Richard Murray Wells said: “I have been impressed with Adrian and Jody’s proactivity and ability to work to tight timescales. Throughout the transaction they have given me common sense advice and have acted quickly to issues arising during the course of negotiations.

“I have used Andrew Jackson for many years and, without exception, the firm has provided an excellent, professional service.”
