Summit focusing on Stockport's role in 'Northern Powerhouse'

How Stockport benefits from the Government’s Northern Powerhouse vision will be top of the agenda for an Economic Summit being hosted by Orbit Developments and Greater Manchester Business Week on November 4th.

The breakfast event is being held at Orbit’s flagship development Regent House in the town centre and will be hosted by Head of Business at GM Business Week and Manchester Evening News, Adam Jupp.

Joining him at the Summit will be a panel of representatives from local Stockport businesses and the Council, including Christian Mancier, Corporate & Commercial Partner at Gorvins Solicitors, Jo Shippen, Managing Director of Hatters Promotional Merchandise, Tony Jones, Managing Director of Orbit Developments and Stockport Council Chief Executive Eamonn Boylan

It will be the second time the leading commercial landlords have staged a Summit this year. The May event attracted over 100 local and regional businesses.

Alongside benefits of the Northern Powerhouse push, topics under discussion will be future developments and main drivers for change in the town centre, and the investment that local businesses have made into the Stockport area and their commitment to the town. The panel will also be looking at the changes that have already taken place in Stockport over the last 12-18 months.

Tony Jones said: “This Economic Summit gives Stockport’s business community the opportunity to voice their concerns, and put forward ideas for projects in the town. Stockport is a rising economic force with a number of high-profile businesses moving to the town, so it’s vital we get the message out there that we’re very much a part of the Chancellor’s move to develop a strong Northern Powerhouse.”

Attendees will enjoy a light breakfast and the opportunity to network with other local businesses and will be encouraged to put forward questions to the panel.
