FK Group awarded £3.7m Premier Inn contract
A building envelope contractor based in Manchester is now on site at MediaCityUK after winning a £3.7m bid to work on a new Premier Inn at the development.
Altrincham-headquartered FK Group, which provides roofing, cladding and glazing services, was awarded the work by Derbyshire-based Bowmer & Kirkland, which is the main contractor on the scheme.
The multi-million pound deal will see FK Group design and install a bespoke curtain wall and glazing on the 112-bedroom hotel’s exterior.
The firm’s chief executive, Francis Keenan, said: “This project showcases FK’s skills in delivering innovative and quality facades for commercial developments.
“Our full service offering means we are now considered as a first choice provider of building envelope solutions across many sectors.”
He added: “We have established strong relationships with main contractors such as Bowmer & Kirkland who pride themselves on delivering quality projects.”
The Premier Inn forms part Tomorrow, a £20m 10-storey building offering 100,000 sq ft of space at Peel Group-owned MediaCityUK. Four floors at the site will be used by the hotel.
Tomorrow comprises 56,000 sq ft of office and studio units, as well as a large plaza offering amenity space.
Bowmer & Kirkland’s Andrew Flannery commented: “We selected to work with FK Group due to their locality to the project in Greater Manchester coupled with their extensive experience of delivering innovative envelope solutions for projects of this scale.
“They can provide the full range of skillsets for the project. They understand the bespoke nature and our client’s requirements to deliver quality on time and in budget.”
FK Group expects to complete the project in Summer 2016.
