North East job scene boosted as 700 candidates attend Cobalt Careers Fair

Some of the region’s biggest employers have praised Cobalt Business Park, following a careers fair which took place at the site last week.

Over 700 candidates attended the Cobalt Careers Fair, organised by employers within the park and North Tyneside Council Education to Employment Team.

Companies recruiting included EE, Utilitywise, HP, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Santander, North Tyneside Council and Newcastle Building Society to name a few.

Recruiters are reportedly delighted with the calibre of the candidates in attendance and are said to be looking to provide more regular careers events for the public.

The Cobalt MORE team were on hand at the event to offer all visitors personalised travel plans and information on park connectivity as well as on the host of other benefits of working at the park, including hundreds of annual events and the sought after Cobalt MORE card which provides freebies and discounts throughout the region.

Claire Dunn from North Tyneside Council, Education to Employment Team, said: “We are delighted to be able to support our local businesses with this event and our residents have accessed a wide range of opportunities. There have already been job offers made as a direct result of the event and many interviews in the pipeline.”

Lynn Cramman, Business Development Manager at Cobalt Park, said: “In the past year Cobalt occupiers have recruited for over 1,000 new roles, heavy recruiters include Accenture, Utilitywise, EE & Hewlett Packard to name a few. The 11 lettings over the past 2 years have increased Cobalt’s workforce to around 14,000, with Cobalt companies still expanding this is expected to grow in the next 12 months.”

“The careers fair came about as a result of the ongoing expansion and demand from each occupier for collaborative working opportunities, along with North Tyneside Council on an exclusive Cobalt Park careers fair which has been a great success for park tenants whom are recruiting”

“Cobalt has a recruitment catchment of over 1.1 million people, our quality, transport links and full range of amenities has led to the unrivalled take up of space and clearly proves the location is a major success story for the Region. The fact that they and six other major organisations have chosen to expand via the acquisition of additional office space at Cobalt is the best possible endorsement of the scheme’s quality and the strength of its connectivity”.
