SAVA School of Surveying opens vocational surveying diploma

Have you considered a career change? Working as a Residential Surveyor and Valuer could be the way forward. This professional and well respected career commands excellent salary prospects and, due to a skills shortage in the industry, demand for surveying services is ever increasing. Surveyors can be employed or self-employed meaning you can opt for more or less flexibility depending on your circumstances.

If you would like to find out more about a career as a surveyor, we are holding a number of free open events in Milton Keynes and Barnsley this November for you to find out more.

These open events will provide you with the opportunity to discuss the career options, hear from industry experts and speak to a number of surveying firms. You will also be able to find out more about the SAVA School of Surveying and the new direct entry route to join the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as an Associate member.

The SAVA School of Surveying has become the first training provider to offer a vocational route into the residential surveying and valuation profession. Working closely with RICS’ experienced surveyors and lenders, the company, who have training bases in Milton Keynes and Barnsley, developed the level 6 Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation drawing on over a decade of industry knowledge.

The diploma offers a part-time alternative to university education for those with new career ambitions in surveying. Once qualified, SAVA graduates are eligible for direct entry into RICS at Associate member level, meaning they can offer RICS products such as HomeBuyer Reports and valuations.

Hilary Grayson, Head of Surveying Services at SAVA, comments, “Innovation has always been at the heart of SAVA. The residential surveying industry is suffering from a skills shortage caused by an ageing workforce and the traditional degree route into the profession is simply not feasible for everyone.

“We’re offering those with family and work commitments the chance to pursue a new career without sacrificing all their time,“ Hilary says. “This blended learning approach is perfect for learners looking to study while they work, and we have a dedicated team of expert trainers working hard to ensure that our online material is just as comprehensive and engaging as the face-to-face sessions.

“The course is challenging and a big commitment to undertake, but the career is very rewarding. We are proud to have developed a qualification that meets RICS standards and are excited to be able to offer this new opportunity to those looking to kick start their career in surveying. Sometimes before you can open a door you have to build it, and that’s what we’ve done.“
