St Helens maintenance firm M&Y to expand into construction sector
Housing repairs and maintenance company M&Y has revealed plans to expand into construction.
The St Helens-based firm, which has also unveiled a new look following a rebrand, plans to use its experience in the housing sector to achieve growth through construction industry contracts.
M&Y’s executive director, Gill Kelly, said of the announcement: “Our teams are out there fitting new windows and doors, installing heating systems, bathrooms and kitchens in hundreds of homes. We understand the housing sector and its customers inside out.
“Construction is next as we move into a new era of property development. We’re busy, busy, busy and really going places.”
The intention to expand into construction follows the firm’s hiring of 80 staff to support its current programme of planned maintenance projects.
Established in the 1980s, M&Y today employs around 250 members of staff and expects its turnover for the current year to pass the £17m mark.
Discussing the company’s beginnings, Gill continued: “It’s important that you don’t forget your roots. My dad’s mantra was ‘you’re only as good as your last job’ and that’s so true.
“The company is expanding but the passion, drive and ethos is just the same.”
