£150m Gateshead Trinity Square development to reach completion with new brand-marque

Gateshead’s Trinity Square is set to finalise a twelve-month project to bolster its new-look shopping centre with the launch of a new brand-marque.

The £150m development has regenerated Gateshead town centre since opening in May 2013, contributing to both the town’s retail economy and its cultural landscape.

Tony Pickering, Trinity Square’s Centre Manager, said: “Without doubt, Trinity Square has transformed Gateshead town centre into a safe and pleasant environment for visitors and residents to enjoy on a daily basis. I am excited to share our new brand with the public, which continues to demonstrate the centre as a modern, friendly and exciting destination – a place of value, choice and convenience.”

Designed by Newcastle’s Guerrilla Communications, Trinity Square’s new branding is described as ‘distinctive, confident and bold in its simplicity’.

Management at Trinity Square said the logo takes the form of a square, with a clean and contemporary logotype to the centre, drawing parallels with the square’s position at the heart of Gateshead town centre. Moreover, the logo is said to to represent the centre’s diverse offering, reinforcing the message that “There’s Something for Everyone” at Trinity Square Gateshead.

The area now boasts a nine screen, fully digital Vue cinema, one of the largest Tesco Extra stores in the country and a variety of national brands and independent businesses.

Global real estate services provider Savills plc this week reported that Trinity Square reached second in its portfolio for growth, recording a 16.5% increase in footfall against 2014.

James Allen, Managing Director at Guerilla Communications in Newcastle, said: “Working closely with Centre and Savills Management, we needed to create a brand that had a presence and then a campaign that could not be missed. Too often marketing expenditure is not benchmarked in terms of meeting the original objectives so we are really delighted with the positive results that have been achieved.”

Tony Pickering added: “I am thrilled to see Trinity Square go from strength to strength, consolidating a year of hard work. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our partners and tenants, their continued support and energy has proved invaluable in delivering an excellent service to Trinity Squares visitors.”
