Teesside grade II-listed country hotel unveils following £400k refurbishment
Teesside spa hotel Gisborough Hall has unveiled its new rooms and suites following £400k investment
The 19th century four star hotel has refurbished thirty nine of its bedrooms, its ballroom, drawing room and inner hall, modernising the venue which dates back to 1857. The rolling programme of refurbishment is now continuing with further bedrooms being revamped over the coming months.
The Grade II-listed country house was fully restored in 2002 following an investment of over £10 million by the Gisborough family, who privately own the hotel itself. The hotel is now a Macdonald Associate hotel.
Jason Moore has also returned to Gisborough Hall as head chef, having travelled around the UK and Europe working at a variety of locations and, most recently, assisted with Yorkshire-based Provenance Inns’ gastro-pub openings all over the region.
Jason has cooked for many VIPs including members of the Royal Family, MPs and footballers. Jason, from Guisborough, originally joined Gisborough Hall in 2008 and is well known for his appearances at shows and exhibitions including the Harrogate Flower Show, York Festival of Food and Drink, the Great Yorkshire Show and the Scarborough Food Fair.
The country hall now employs a team of 105 local people across the hotel, a number which has steadily increased in the last year thanks to the refurbishment as afternoon teas, corporate events and dinners and international tourism all continue to thrive.
Kim Yardley, general manger of Gisborough Hall, said: “Gisborough Hall has such a strong reputation and heritage in the Teesside and North Yorkshire areas and it’s vital that we invest in the property to continually surprise our exceptionally loyal clientele and entice new people to the beautiful area. The new bedrooms and public areas have been extremely well received and the coming year will also see more exciting plans unveiled for the hall.
“Jason’s return as our head chef has been a fantastic boost as he is so highly regarded. We’re very fortunate to have a committed, local team of over 100 staff and retention is exceptionally high, compared to other hospitality businesses. We’re now looking forward to some interesting development in 2016.”
