Luxury show home opens at The Chocolate Works

Having launched its show apartments at the iconic Chocolate Works development in York in July, local house builder David Wilson Homes has opened the doors to the first show home at the five star development. The eagerly awaited luxury home opened to the public on Sunday to a surge of interest, with buyers flocking to the development to take a look at the exclusive property.

Located in the well sought after South Bank area of York City and just 15 minutes from the city centre, The Chocolate Works has been popular with local buyers and investors alike since it launched in July. The exclusive show home has been designed with quality and luxury in mind, with integrated wine coolers and wet rooms just some of the perks included in the home. The interiors, designed by Show Business, blend traditional and contemporary styles to reflect the unique nature of the historical site, with modern finishes such as chrome and glass taking their place alongside traditional furnishings and textured wallpapers - creating an opulent ambience as soon as you step inside the door.

Conceptualised by leading London architect Richards Partington, the homes have been designed with bespoke materials that compliment the existing Terry’s factory structure. Aluminium window frames finished in burnished gold give a subtle nod to the Terry’s All Gold chocolates that were once manufactured on the site, while the bricks’ colour complement the materials used in the famous factory clock tower that still stands at the head of the development. Inside, the rooms have been designed with family living in mind, with a bright and airy kitchen diner area on the ground floor leading out onto a spacious private garden, and plush living area on the first floor opening out onto a conservatory and terrace that provides fantastic views across the historical factory site – making it the perfect place to entertain. Upstairs on the second floor are three of the four bedrooms - including the luxurious master with en-suite wet-room, with the fourth double bedroom located on the ground floor of the property.

Sarah Thompson, interior designer at Show Business commented: “The show home at The Chocolate Works is a unique property in one of York’s most desirable locations, so we felt it only right that we designed the interiors to reflect the luxury of the home and to honour the site’s place in York’s rich past. We’ve used a gold colour palette throughout the property, from creamy gold flagstones in the kitchen, to rich burnished gold wallpaper in the lounge, reflecting the confectionary once manufactured on the factory site, as well as utilising a variety of rich fabrics and materials to give the home a real feel of modern glamour. It’s a truly special result.”

Sarah Proctor, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, commented: “The Chocolate Works is situated in an iconic part of York’s history, so we felt it only right that we designed a show home that reflected the site’s past, and gave buyers a real feel for what life in these homes will be like. With both show apartments and show homes now open to the public, and a range of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes available for reservation, we are urging interested parties to come down to The Chocolate Works and see what this unique development has to offer.”
