Builders Breakfast Celebrates Grand Re-Opening Of Historic Landmark Whilst Boosting Local Economy
Over 80 influential professionals in the property and construction industry joined Nottingham based ALB Investments and DL Rhodes & Son to celebrate the grand re-opening of The Victoria Mill in Draycott.
To mark the completion of the £7m regeneration project of the famous landmark on Town End Road, both firms invited fellow industry figures and the Mayoress of Erewash Councillor Val Custance to the ‘Builders Breakfast’ on November 2.
The project has transformed The Victoria Mill into 73 luxury, high-specification one and two bed apartments, which have all already been sold as the help to boost the area’s economy.
Managing director of ALB Investments, Arran Bailey said: “We are delighted to announce that work has been completed at the Victoria Mill in Draycott.
“All of the apartments have been built to high specification and boast great views of surrounding green belt land.
“We are delighted to announce that DL Rhodes has finished the project three months ahead of schedule and on budget. All of the apartments have been reserved for sale, and we believe that the project has given a new lease of life to the mill. This should subsequently boost the local economy with extra footfall around the town.”
Managing director of DL Rhodes & Son Ltd, Nigel Rhodes said that the mill is one of Erewash’s most important and historic buildings with a history of being one of the most important lace factories in the world.
He said: “We are delighted with how successful the project has been. From day one we have tried to build a relationship with the local residents and we have always been welcomed with open arms.
“We truly believe that this regeneration will be fantastic for local residents, shops and business owners by bringing more footfall to the area. The project has had a positive response from the local community.”
The design of the building has historical influences after it was discovered that the designer, Ernest Hooley built the mill to the same proportions as Noah’s Ark.
Mr Bailey added: “The ‘Builders Breakfast’ seemed like a far more fitting opening party than a champagne and canapé filled evening, it meant we could thank everyone who assisted with the project personally and gave everyone a chance to have a look at the completed project.”
