Liverpool job losses announced as contractor dives into administration

Liverpool-based W.Braithwaite & Son, a shopfitter and building contractor in business since the late 1800s, has gone into administration.

Nick Reed and Andrew Mackenzie of professional services firm Begbies Traynor have been appointed as joint administrators.

The majority of the firm’s 22 members of staff have been made redundant, although the administrators said seven employees remain to finish certain contracts.

Andrew explained: “Unfortunately, over the last 12 months, the company has suffered a number of issues resulting in the current financial difficulties.”

“The company has a strong reputation and an excellent track record and we are currently looking for expressions of interest for the business and or the assets of the company.”

The firm has carried out work for a number of regional and national organisations, including Liverpool City Council, restaurant chain Pizza Express and Liverpool Football Club.
