Risk analysts choose crowdsourcing model for realtime intelligence
Co Durham-based risk management company Intelligence Fusion have launched a unique service for sharing and analysing political, regulatory, social and cultural information, initially reporting on Iraq and Syria. Given the speed that the risk profile of this area evolves, Intelligence Fusion understood that accessing real-time local reports would be essential to delivering high quality decision-making information to its clients, and chose to crowdsource local reporting in target areas.
The Intelligence Fusion platform will be opening to all subscribers later this year. Users have already accumulated a wealth of data, from incident reports to video, images, sources, links, and over-arching analysis and consensus on the unfolding risk landscape. These resources are being accessed directly by early adopters who include decision-makers within numerous blue chip companies and NGOs.
Founder Michael McCabe told us: “There is no other platform collating as much information as Intelligence Fusion on Iraq and Syria, and this volume comes with its own analytical challenges. However, the community that has formed is processing and making sense of the data. As we grow, we expect to deliver an unprecedented level of detailed decision-making information to the market.” The platform’s community features will also help Intelligence Fusion to take the next step in risk management, by forming strong ties between users and enabling collaborative operations in hostile and non-permissive environments.
Intelligence Fusion is using the Ambix social intranet platform. Michael worked closely with the Stockton-based Ambix team to develop interactive tools that stimulate discussion and collaboration. Ambix lead developer James Drew said, “Applying a crowdsourcing community solution to risk analysis is unusual but effective. The feedback we have been given by the Intelligence Fusion community has been excellent, and has helped us to improve the Ambix experience for all our clients.”
