Infographic: how Peterborough is enticing people away from London
Financial services company BGL Group has created an infographic showcasing the benefits of leaving the London rat race and relocating to Peterborough. Cheaper property prices, greater disposable income and a better quality of life are all highlighted as major benefits of making the move.
Peterborough is a stone’s throw away from London and is fast becoming a popular city for business relocation and growth. And for those who can’t quite face going cold turkey on London’s shopping and dining offerings, the commute to the capital is under an hour, with an average return ticket price of £45.
Social Recruitment Manager at BGL, Katie Smith, spent 8 years in London working at a global advertising agency before deciding to move from the capital to Peterborough …
“Sweaty, cramped, late London transport is a distant memory, replaced with a better work life/balance and country welly boots. Out of the rat race – it’s all about quality of life – mixed in with a London pay packet“ she said.
Expected to be one of England’s fastest growing cities by 2025, Peterborough is one of the UK government’s demonstrator cities for innovation and technology.
Leading economic think tank, Centre for Cities, also placed Peterborough second in a list of job creation cities over the past 100 years.
The infographic also highlights the significantly lower average house price in Peterborough compared to London and other cities close to London along the northern train route.
