Leading Yorkshire Engineering Firm Expands Across Pennines

LEEDS based Adept Civil and Structural Consulting Engineers has expanded into Manchester with the launch of a new city centre office, as the company continues to win a range of high profile contracts throughout the North West.

The new office is located in the Grade II listed Sevendale House, which is one of the most prominent buildings in Manchester’s Stevenson Square conservation area, close to Piccadilly Gardens in the city’s Northern Quarter.

The office will initially be headed up by Adept director Richard Parker and staffed by team members from the company’s Leeds office, with plans in place to recruit a senior engineer to manage the office along with several supporting engineers and technicians, over the coming months.

Projects that Adept is currently working on in Manchester include Marshall Construction’s £20million transformation of Gateway House, known as the ‘lazy S’ building, next to Piccadilly Station, into a 182-bedroom aparthotel that incorporates retail and office space. In addition the company is working on a number of affordable housing schemes in the North West including 125 homes across two sites in Telford and 20 homes near Leyland for Strategic Team Group.

Richard Parker says: “Expanding into Manchester is a natural step as we continue winning work throughout the region. There are a lot of exciting projects on the horizon in the North West and having a base in Manchester reinforces our intentions in the area, as well as our commitment to the projects that we are currently working on.

“Sevendale House is a stunning, landmark building that offers an inspirational working environment which is easily accessible, has good transport links and benefits from having all of Manchester’s amenities on its doorstep. This made it the ideal base for us, as we begin building a dedicated team in Manchester that complements everything that we are renowned for in Leeds.”

Adept was founded in 2007 and employs a team of 28 in Leeds and London, predominantly working across the commercial, warehousing, retail, ecclesiastical, educational, healthcare, food processing and residential sectors, providing a full range of civil and structural engineering solutions. These include surveys and reports, feasibility advice for new schemes, BIM services, geo-environmental studies, site investigations, conceptual and detailed drawings, flood-risk and drainage assessments as well as highway design.
