Whitley Bay set to welcome new coaching space for North East businesses

Whitley Bay will soon host a dedicated coaching space for businesses, with the launch of ‘The Coaching Rooms’ later this month.

Situated in the Whitley Bay Links coastline, the facility will offer one-to-one coaching in a dedicated private and comfortable indoor space facing the sea itself.

The venue’s operator, local female entrepreneur Lysa Morrison of LMA Training & Consultancy, hopes the unique surroundings will help clients to trigger a shift in the thoughts, feelings and behaviours sometimes needed to make a breakthrough in overcoming problems or achieving goals:

“The old adage says ‘nobody ever had a great idea sitting at a desk’… I wouldn’t necessarily agree in every single case, but it’s true that stepping away from the daily grind and changing your surroundings can have a profound effect on how you think and feel.

“The beautiful setting of The Coaching Rooms is a great example. Psychologically speaking, the context you’re in - including your immediate surroundings - really affects where you put your attention and what’s important to you at any given moment, which in turn affects your abilities and your emotions. You’re often too busy juggling other priorities at home or work to get into the right frame of mind to really think through the direction and details of your life or your career.

“When you’re in a special location like this by the sea, it’s easier to put everything else aside for a while and make some real progress towards solving your problems or setting and achieving some meaningful goals.”

Lysa herself is so taken with the area that she moved house just up the road and even had her wedding pictures taken in the sea: “I made the news a few years ago when my prankster husband dropped me in the sea in my wedding dress, the second I’d had a romantic picture taken in his arms. Working here does feel a little bit like ‘returning to the scene of the crime’, but there’s no denying it’s a magical place and the sea can bring out all sorts of ideas and feelings. It’s a privilege to come here so often.”

Lysa’s company has worked with a range of local businesses and establishments in engineering, law, charity work, social care and education among others, putting their business successes down to the coaching where it all started. They claim that teaching clients the tools and ideas to find their own solutions usually means clients only ever need one coaching session.

“Of course, we still coach people in their workplace too - it has to be done that way sometimes - but I can’t wait to see what we can achieve at The Coaching Rooms, overlooking the sea and the beach. It’s the perfect location personal coaching outside of work too.”

The surrounding area also boasts some well-known cafes and attractions, with the historic “Spanish City” undergoing refurbishments and of course some stunning seaside views. The Coaching Rooms is the first of its kind in the area and it is hoped local people and businesses will benefit.
