BIFM Ireland launches Facilities Management awards

The search is on for extraordinary individuals operating within the facilities management industry in Ireland as the BIFM Ireland Region Awards , sponsored by the Centre for the Modern Environment (CME) at Portobello Institute, are officially launched. Winners will be announced at the inaugural Facilities Management Summit from BIFM, which has a core theme of ’Innovation in Facilities Management – Delivering the Impossible’ and is designed to provide a forum for sharing ideas and enabling professionals to spur their respective organisations to greater success through strategic facilities management.

Award categories include Ireland Region Young FM Professional of the Year and Ireland Region FM Professional of the Year and for the first time winners of these awards will receive a place on a BIFM Diploma course, courtesy of the CME valued at €2,500 and €4,865*. Entries will be judged by an independent panel of industry and academic experts. Individuals from the public, private and voluntary sectors are encouraged to enter the awards which will ensure that they are officially recognised for the excellent work that they are doing and the standard they are setting for this thriving industry.

Hosted by Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin and sponsored by Aramark and OCS the Facilities Management Summit from BIFM will serve as a vibrant platform for business and facilities management professionals to exchange knowledge, information and ideas on the many facets of one of Ireland’s fastest growing professions, investigating how facilities management impacts various business sectors. Speakers confirmed to date include: Dave Malone, Performance Director at Paralympics Ireland, Monica Parker, Founder of HATCH and Angus Harding, Managing Director, Integrated Services Division Global Corporate Services, EMEA.

Speaking about the awards, Rebekah Lyons, Managing Director of the Centre for the Modern Environment (CME) said: “I have been involved in the judging of the BIFM Ireland awards for 3 years now and am always astounded by the quality of the candidates submitted. This year we have introduced a new category, “Ireland Region Young FM Professional of the Year” to recognise the contribution of those new to the profession but who are still considered to have a significant input to the overall success of the team. Each day in CME, we see the value of the BIFM educational programmes to the professionalism and career progression of FMs and we are delighted to offer the opportunity to undertake a BIFM diploma qualification to the winner of each category.”

Deadline for entries is Tuesday 10th November at 5pm, with winners announced at the inaugural Facilities Management Summit from BIFM being held on Friday, 20th November at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.
