Durham’s GPS invests in workforce with five hires
Group Property Services (GPS), the repairs and improvements division of County Durham Housing Group, has announced the appointments of five staff.
GPS is responsible for the repairs and maintenance, home improvements and gas services to more than 10,000 properties in the city centre and west of the county.
Joiners Scott Graham, Michael Howard and Alex Reynolds were originally agency employees; and Gas Engineers Gary Cooper and David Johnson started as work experience placements, and have now become fully qualified and secured permanent posts.
Gary said: “It’s been a fantastic opportunity for all of us, not only to gain the experience we have needed, but also to now have the security of full-time work.”
Steven Brown, Group Property Services Manager, said: “We believe strongly in investing in our workforce and giving local people the opportunity to help us make a real difference to the homes and lives of our tenants.”
With a 120-strong team, GPS supports two of County Durham Housing Group’s local landlords, Dale & Valley Homes and Durham City Homes.
