Colliers International to advise on multi-million pound Kirkby development
After working with property firm St Modwen on its multi-million pound acquisition in Kirkby town centre earlier this month, commercial real estate company Colliers International has been appointed to advise the new owners on the ongoing development of the site.
The project, in which St Modwen purchased the entire holdings of supermarket chain Tesco in the town centre for £35.8m, will see central Kirkby transformed by a retail-led regeneration scheme.
Discussing the appointment, Colliers’ Leeds-based director, Greg Styles, said: “We are pleased to have been able to work with St Modwen once again on this strategic acquisition which will see them use their expertise to add value to the town through income producing assets.
“This deal represents a significant investment for Kirkby, and St Modwen certainly has the track record and experience to deliver.”
He added: “We look forward to working with the project team to bring St Modwen and its development partner’s vision for Kirkby to fruition.”
Colliers International has a history of working alongside St Modwen and is currently assisting the company on a number of regeneration projects across the UK, including Wythenshawe town centre in Greater Manchester, the Great Homer Street development in Liverpool and Billingham town centre in the North East.
St Modwen’s Kirkby acquisition includes 400,000 sq ft of leisure and retail space, with current tenants including discount store Home Bargains and fashion retailer New Look.
