Partnership brings innovative air cleaning technology to UK

Environmental solution provider, E-CO, has teamed up with leading Dutch clean air

technology experts, Environmental Nano Solutions Europe B.V. (ENS), to bring a

range of remarkable air cleaning products to the UK.

These units remove fine dust particles, typically 2.5 microns in diameter or less – up

to 25 times thinner than a human hair.

Whilst particles may themselves be toxic and/or carcinogenic, they are also notorious

for carrying and spreading harmful micro-organisms - bacteria, viruses and

endotoxins.

Up to 29,000 premature deaths in the UK are caused by the inhalation of fine dust

particles. It is estimated that poor air quality costs the NHS over £1billion per annum.

A report by the World Health Organisation and OECD in May 2015 indicates that air

pollution costs the UK economy £53 billion or 3.7% of GDP.

ENS’s unique and patented air cleaning technology was developed in collaboration

with the Technical University of Delft. It works by a process of positive ionisation of

the air flow, causing dust particles to instantly migrate and adhere to negatively

charged dust-collection plates within the units.

Developed originally to meet internal air quality and emission safety needs of dustgenerating

manufacturing processes (e.g. animal feeds, tyres), the technology is

equally successful in removing particulates from large volumes of air in and around

city streets and in the HVAC systems of buildings, shopping malls and city metro

systems.

A key feature of the technology is the energy and operational cost efficiency:

a) Ultra low power consumption.

b) Eliminates the need for energy-sapping fine-particle mechanical filtration.

c) Eliminates the cost of filter replacements.

d) Filtering efficiency up to 99.9%.

e) Zero ozone output.

Reducing fine dust particles means cleaner, healthier air bringing many benefits,

especially:

• Reducing the spread of illnesses in places of work, lowering the high cost and

inconvenience employee absence.

• Reducing the spread of illnesses in public areas such as streets, malls and

metro systems.

• Relieving chronic diseases and lowering allergic exposures.

• Reducing health care costs.

• Improving the mental agility and capacity of people at work.

• Improving learning capacity amongst school and college students.

• Increased life expectancy.

Hillary Spicer, Director of E-CO, said: “Fine dust, invisible to the human eye, is

present in the air we breathe in, and often in high doses. Going unnoticed, these

particles penetrate our airways and can enter our bloodstream, causing a range of

nasty and dangerous health consequences, such as respiratory infections, heart

diseases, brain diseases and lung cancer.

“We are delighted to be working with ENS Europe to supply this innovative air

cleaning technology that removes fine and ultrafine dust, protecting people and

animals against exposure and the environment from pollution. There are a range of

products available for both indoor and outdoor use.“

A UK distributor for Steril-Aire UVC technology, E-CO provides a range of products

designed to improve air quality, including high-intensity ultraviolet germicidal

solutions for heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
