Sky Betting & Gaming creates 200 Yorkshire jobs with £11m investment

Sky Betting & Gaming (SB&G) has today announced plans to invest £11m into creating 200 new jobs and opening a new customer hub in Leeds city centre.

Half of the jobs will be based in Leeds, primarily in the technology and contact centre teams, while the other half will be based at the recently opened Sheffield Technology Hub at the Electric Works.

This investment means that in the next 12 months the company will employ more than 900 people across three sites in Yorkshire comprising its Leeds Headquarters, Sheffield Technology Hub and the new Leeds Customer Hub.

Chief Executive, Richard Flint, said: “With the business performing well we have decided that now is the time to significantly increase our investment in people and facilities. This is a vote of confidence not only in our own plans to make betting and gaming better but also in the health of the Yorkshire economy.”

Commenting on the announcement, Claire Braithwaite, Head of Tech North said: “Sky Betting & Gaming’s creation of 200 more jobs in Sheffield and Leeds is fantastic news and demonstrates the strength of growth of tech businesses in the north of England and the quality of the talent pool we have here.

“With 180,000 people already employed in digital tech in the north of England this figure looks set to grow over the coming years and at Tech North we will be working with government, business and educators to support the development of a strong pipeline of tech talent in the region.”
