East London speciality coffee company launches subscription service

Union Hand-Roasted Coffee is shipping freshly roasted coffee direct to customers’ doors, with the launch of a brand-new subscription service.

The CoffeeClub service is expected to achieve a tenfold increase in home-delivery sales for the company, with 7,000 customers expected to sign up within the first year.

With two decades of industry experience behind them, Union Coffee co-founders Jeremy Torz and Steven Macatonia believe CoffeeClub will be an invaluable addition to their well-established wholesale and e-commerce presence – which has already secured the business a turnover of £9.8m for 2015 and a growth rate of 190% since 2008[2].

Whereas online sales currently comprise 10% of the East London business, they are projected to contribute significantly to the ongoing growth of Union Coffee over the next three years.

“With our new subscription site, we want to share our passion for great-tasting, high-quality coffee and give people the chance to make their own perfect cup at home,” said Jeremy Torz, Co-founder of Union Hand-Roasted Coffee. “Our customers are discerning coffee-lovers who appreciate the art of hand-crafted coffee and enjoy discovering different flavour profiles as much as we enjoy sourcing them.

“As the world of craft coffee continues to grow, we will be channelling our energies into this project to help offer a wider choice of coffee, supported by informative tips, advice and guidance.”

The team at Union Coffee remain fiercely committed to promoting transparency within their supply chain, using a business model pioneered by Steven and Jeremy – Union Direct Trade – that negotiates fair prices with producers to reflect the higher class of coffee being purchased.

In this way, Union Coffee sets itself apart from competitors by only selling coffees achieving quality grade 84 and above on a 100-point scale, the industry standard threshold for superior quality coffee.
