Age UK Opens New Cumbrian Charity Superstore

Commercial property consultants Robert Pinkus & Co. can report that the former Batemans Toyota Garage on Station Square, Grange has been let to the charity Age UK.

Robert Pinkus & Co. has let the 8,072 sq ft property on a 1 year lease to Age UK South Lakeland Ltd. on behalf of landlord E H Booth & Co. Ltd.

The 0.72 acre site at the junction of Lindale Road and Windermere Road is earmarked for the development of a new Booths foodstore. Age UK will occupy the prominent showroom premises as a new charity superstore utilising the showroom to sell larger big box items such as furniture as well as accepting good quality donations of books, bric-a-brac and clothing.

John O’Brien, Head of Income at Age UK South Lakeland said, “We had a hugely successful and well-supported opening on November 5th. We will be able to make fantastic use of the showroom space and great on-site customer parking available to us at Station Square and will take any saleable donations big or small. The new superstore will provide a substantial boost to our fundraising efforts and we hope the public will visit us for any special Christmas purchases this season.”

Mark Harrison, surveyor at Robert Pinkus & Co. said, “We are delighted that Age UK are able to use the property to sell bigger, higher ticketed items to raise much needed funds for the local branch of Age UK, who will distribute the funds back into the local area helping the elderly residents during the approaching cold winter months.”

The property also comes with a 4,172 sq ft workshop with a tiles floor, two electrically operated goods doors and fluorescent strip lighting. The workshop can be rented out through separate negotiation and any interested parties should make their enquiries through Robert Pinkus & Co. on 01772 769000.
