The Magnavale Group transfers transport to DFDS Logistics

The Magnavale Group, parent company of coldstore operator Rick Bestwick Ltd, has entered into a long term distribution partnership with DFDS Logistics Ltd, Europe’s largest logistics provider.

Under the partnership, transport services provided by Rick Bestwick Ltd (based in Chesterfield and Scunthorpe) will be transferred to DFDS Logistics from Monday 5 October 2015, with all transport operations and driver employees transferring to DFDS Logistics from the transfer date.

The partnership will support the expansion of the Magnavale Group by allowing the cold store operator to provide an improved supply chain solution for its customers. Kevin Hancock, managing director of Rick Bestwick Ltd (a Magnavale Group affiliate) said: “By partnering with DFDS Logistics on all transport services we can focus on improving the cold store and warehousing businesses in the group, safe in the knowledge that Rick Bestwick has a service that will allow them to get their customers’ products to and from where they need to be, on time and in the best condition.”

Stuart Hancock, major shareholder and director of Magnavale, added: “Magnavale is committed to investing in temperature controlled food service businesses and this latest strategic move will enable us to progress further in this area.” Steve Macaulay, vice president UK & Ireland at DFDS Logistics said: “With a temperature controlled fleet of more than 500 units operating in the UK, we are well placed to manage temperature controlled logistics for Rick Bestwick. We have a long and successful track record in the food and drink sector, and we are looking forward to mutual support and growth in this area.”

Matt O’Dell, director at DFDS added: “We are very pleased to be working together with the Magnavale Group and are confident that we have forged a partnership that cannot be easily rivalled in terms of size and experience.”

DFDS operates from 20 depots across the country and will service Rick Bestwick customers all over the UK.
