Heartland projects keep North East repair company climbing  

North East high rise maintenance firm, Stone Technical Service (STS) has secured a number of projects across the region, as it looks to consolidate its development plans before 2016.

Earlier this year, the restoration and high level repair company announced that July had been its most successful month, in a 17 year history,exceeding its projected growth plans. STS has now secured more work across the North as it continues to grow.

Working with Lumley Castle in County Durham, where it has carried out a number of projects over the years, the firm is now replacing the York stone on Lumley’s historic patio steps as part of its work to keep the hotel properly maintained.

The same division of the business is working at Barnard Castle Church on general repairs, while STS Lightning Protection has been carrying out installations at Stiller in Aycliffe and at Strike’s in Northallerton.

And, in Leeds, STS Maintenance and Facilities Management has secured a three year contract to carry out repairs to Leeds City Council’s social housing stock as well as completing high level surveys to Merrion House in the city centre.

The new projects are worth in the region of £200,k to STS, which achieved sales of over £350k in July alone having secured new projects around the UK, including work for the Royal household at Windsor Castle, repairs to the Royal Courts of Justice and safety installations at Southwark Cathedral.

Managing director of STS, Dave Stone, said: “The recent increase in contracts means that we are now ahead of our growth plans. We always work hard to be leaders in our field, particularly in our heartland area of the North East.

“It’s always great to be asked to return to work on buildings as we strive to be the very best in our sector. The growth in sales is now being re-invested in STS, creating new jobs and buying new plant machinery to enable the company to take on larger, varied projects.”

STS is now on course to increase turnover by half a million pounds by the end of 2015 to £3m and managers are now projecting growth of over £1m by the start of 2016, with turnover expected to reach £3.5m.

So far in 2015, the company has been working on a number of high profile projects for the Royal Parks in London carrying out a full bridge restoration at the Serpentine and at Grainger Market, Newcastle Civic Centre and with Great Manchester Police.
