Pharma group M&B Healthcare targets growth with seven-figure funding boost
M&B Healthcare, a group of pharmacy businesses operating across the North West, is looking to expand its portfolio of 11 pharmacies after securing multi-million pound funding from HSBC.
The Wigan-headquartered firm plans to use the 10-year, seven-figure loan to grow its network to 20 pharmacies over the next five years, potentially doubling its employee count by acquiring new sites in the North West and Yorkshire.
The company’s director, pharmacist Peter Burrows, said: “The growth of our business since 2007 has been fantastic; we have been able to build our group into eleven pharmacies in a short space of time.
“HSBC’s new financial backing allows us to grow our business and venture into new, and very promising, geographical territories.”
He added: “The bank’s team took the time to fully understand our business and growth progression, which in turn instilled the confidence in us to pursue the right expansion strategy.”
HSBC’s Preston-based area director for corporate banking, Jason Gledhill, said the firm had demonstrated “great ambition” and a commitment to achieving growth.
He commented: “M&B Healthcare has grown rapidly over the past decade, and is now set to more than double the number of pharmacies it runs across the region.
“This will not only boost the group’s business profile and profits, but also help create a number of local jobs in the areas where new pharmacies are acquired.”
Jason continued: “We are proud to support its endeavours as it continues to bring quality healthcare to the region.”
