Creative city company enters new era

Award-winning Liverpool city centre-based creative communications agency Kaleidoscope is celebrating a new team, a new range of services and a new home.

The agency has relocated to the city’s Cotton Exchange, undergone a major re-brand, and appointed expert marketer James Kirk to lead a fresh, strategic approach and expand its services.

It has also just completed a new TV commercial for Kilner jars, working in collaboration with the Rayware Group and Limehouse TV and has won two top communications awards for its work with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Set up in 1988 by Mike Edwards and John Faulkner in Fenwick Street, Liverpool, the agency has worked for a wide range of clients including the NHS, Hill Dickinson, PSS, Electricity North West and Silversea Cruises.

Newly-appointed strategic director James Kirk says the agency is combining more than 25 years of creative heritage with a fresh approach that ‘shapes experiences.’

James, who has previously worked with the likes of AstraZeneca, WWF (World Wildlife Fund), Cancer Research UK and Aston Villa Football Club, delivering programmes that changes the behaviour of customers, communities and employees said: “Being around for over 25 years means we understand lots of audiences and sectors inside out, but we’re still as fearless as a start-up.

“Kaleidoscope has developed an excellent reputation in the city and further afield for its quality of creative thinking and fantastic client service. We plan to build on this to ensure it leads the way in the coming years by combining traditional business values with a new, strategic skill set.

“People are engaging with brands and causes in so many different ways and we aim to shape those experiences through strategically-led creative ideas that have a real impact.

Mike Edwards, managing director of Kaleidoscope, said: “These are exciting times for the company as we draw on the considerable expertise and close working relationships we’ve built up over the years to move forward.

“The ways in which creative communications are delivered have changed so much over the years though we believe that the principles of providing a great service remain the same, listening carefully to our clients, collaborating closely, being creative and challenging ideas when we need to.

“Our new look, new premises and the recruitment of James are all crucial in building on the company’s success and winning two awards for our recent work with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital was the icing on the cake. We were thrilled and proud to see such a fantastic campaign recognised in this way, as it shows how collaboration and co-creation really can create positive change.”

Kaleidoscope was part of the team presented with two golds award at the recent 2015 CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) North West PRide Awards for its campaign ‘Taking a fresh look at mental health.’ The agency worked with Alder Hey’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team (CAMHS) on the campaign that sought to tackle the stigma around mental health in young people and help those suffering in silence to seek help and information.

The judges’ comments included a reflection on how they were really impressed by the ‘effective use of young service users to shape, develop and own the tactics, which resulted in the achievement of changed perceptions.’
