Peterlee's Harbro Electrical invests in new premises
Peterlee-based Harbro Electrical has undergone a company restructure, whereby owner Phil Harbord has invested in new premises to showcase its products.
The electrical firm, founded in 1994, works with sregional businesses including NSK, Mecaplast, Goodfellow and Goodfellow, Seaham Hall and Wynyard Hall, and now employs seven people.
The investment at its premises, on the South West Industrial Estate, will enable the continued growth of the LED lighting side of the business, which now account for 75 per cent of all sales.
Managing Director Phil, who runs the business with his wife Jackie, said: “With rising energy costs more and more businesses are looking at how they save money and that has resulted in many turning to LED lighting.
“It’s such a big market for us and so the investment in the new showroom, which features our huge range of
LED lighting products, is money well spent. In terms of our future growth this is where our focus will be.
“We’ve been working with a number of businesses in the region who were keen to reduce their energy bills, and each one that has installed LED lighting has noticed a sharp reduction in costs.”
Harbro Electrical, which also supplies parts to trade, saw turnover for the current financial year rise to £1.3m and Phil expects that with the recent investment in the showroom it will increase to around £1.6m in the next financial year.
Phil, who lives in Castle Eden, on the outskirts of Hartlepool, added: “After undergoing a company restructure and refocusing our efforts on the LED market, we’re seeing our customer base and turnover increase.
“We’re a North East business with our roots firmly in the region and after completing the refit of our showroom, we are excited about what the future holds.”
