EXCLUSIVE: GO Outdoors set for derelict Tesco Site.
GO OUTDOORS HAVE EXCLUSIVELY BEEN CONFIRMED AS THE NEW TENANT FOR THE OLD TESCO SITE AT THE BROOK IN CHATHAM.
The Tesco site at the Brook in Chatham has been subject to many rumours over the previous months since it was abandoned in April of this year. The rumours have included demolision and redevelopment, change of use and even the possibility that the supermarket Aldi would takeover the site. Now it has been exclusively confirmed for Lewis Fox Web Designs that the camping retailer Go-Outdoors will take over the site.
The news broke this afternoon after builders were seen to have been on the site for a long period of time maintaining the building, it was then descretely released that the camping retailer would be taking over. A spokeswoman for the shop confirmed our findings and also confirmed that the store should be open around Easter of 2016, meaning the building would have only been empty for around just a year.
The news has been released as the DIY store B&Q officially confirmed their departure from Strood Retail Park. This has been within the hands of the planning committee and the permission was granted months ago to redevelop the B&Q store into two retail units, a cafe and a gym on the upper level. There is no knowledge as of yet on an exact date for the closure of the B&Q store as there also is no exact date for the opening of Go-Outdoors in Chatham.
