E-commerce director appointed by Simon Jersey

Altham-based uniform provider Simon Jersey has appointed David Pert as its first Director of eCommerce as it focuses on driving online growth.

David’s appointment follows 18 months of online sales growth for Simon Jersey. His primary objective will be to continue to drive this growth and brand visibility while establishing a best in class online experience for customers. He will be supported by a team of in-house digital marketing, PPC and SEO specialists.

His first challenge on joining Simon Jersey was to launch the company’s new website which offers the company’s full range of more than 900 garments and has the look and feel of a fashion website, making it familiar and easy to use for customers. The site is fully optimised for all devices and encompasses new features such as an improved search function and ability to order personalised uniforms online. It also offers news and updates on Simon Jersey’s work with Team GB as an official supplier.

David has a wealth of experience in eCommerce and user experience having previously worked with Shop Direct Group and Kaplan, a global education provider.

He said: “I’m genuinely thrilled to have joined the team at Simon Jersey. It’s an exciting time of change for the company and the team ethos and family spirit is abundantly clear. With the new mobile and tablet responsive SimonJersey.com site going live and the opportunities for growth moving forward, we have a fantastic opportunity ahead. I’m confident we can make great strides in online revenue over the next few years.”

James Saunders, Simon Jersey managing director, said: “Over the past few years we have seen a shift in the buying habits of our customers who are increasingly keen to buy online rather than over the phone. David’s appointment will allow us to explore further opportunities online and help to drive even greater growth in this channel.”

Simon Jersey has been supplying uniforms for nearly 45 years and over half a million people wear its garments at work each day. The company supplies uniforms to more than 50,000 customers worldwide ranging from sole traders to managed contracts for multinational organisations.

In 2014, Simon Jersey was named as an official supplier to Team GB and will provide formalwear for athletes and officials to wear at events in Rio and the UK as well as outfits for the closing parade which will be seen by up to a billion people worldwide.
