Assist Resourcing Group establishes new Widnes training centre
Liverpool-headquartered recruitment firm Assist Resourcing Group has launched a new training facility in Cheshire to boost the number of trained drivers available for the transport and logistics sectors.
The Widnes Business Park facility will be operated with Assist’s national logistics training company, System Training, and comprise an outside manoeuvring area and bespoke classrooms.
The site, which is approved by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency as a test centre, will have a fleet of LGV (large goods vehicle) training vehicles and its own team of instructors.
Assist Resourcing Group’s CEO, Dave Dargan, said: “Our new Widnes centre will provide a springboard for the enhanced delivery of our driver services to regional and national businesses and organisations.
“With a growing team of experts and the inclusion of additional training capacity, we are playing our part in driving up standards and addressing the national driver shortage.”
As part of the launch, System Training is offering a number of programmes to train people to become qualified as LGV drivers, among them its ‘Warehouse to Wheels’ scheme, through which it hopes to train over 100 warehouse staff each year to become drivers.
